Legal Clarity & Licensing Transparency

XS-4 Business Audio is built on a simple principle:
clear, direct licensing without unnecessary complexity.

This page explains exactly how our licensing works and what businesses can expect when using XS-4 background music.

Direct Licensing Model

All music available through XS-4 Business Audio is:

• Independently produced
• 100% owned by the rights holder
• Licensed directly to your business

XS-4 operates under a direct licensing model, meaning your subscription grants you permission to publicly perform our proprietary music catalog at your registered business location.

There are no third-party licensors involved in our repertoire.

Rights Ownership

The XS-4 music catalog is created and owned by Ted Peters, founder of MF Records, with continuous production dating back to 1999.

Because XS-4 controls both the composition and master rights for its catalog, we are able to license our music directly to businesses without intermediary rights layers.

Collecting Societies & Performance Rights

XS-4 is not affiliated with collecting societies such as
PPL (UK), ASCAP and BMI (USA), GEMA (Germany), SACEM (France), and APRA AMCOS (Australia/NZ) and more, for its proprietary catalog.

This means:

• XS-4 does not distribute its catalog via collective rights organizations
• Your XS-4 license covers public performance of our repertoire
• No additional permissions are required from XS-4 for use of our music

Important note:
This license applies only to music provided through the XS-4 platform.
Music from other sources may still require separate licensing.

What Your XS-4 License Includes

Your XS-4 Business Audio subscription grants:

• Public performance rights for XS-4’s proprietary catalog
• Use within your declared business location
• Streaming access via the XS-4 platform
• A license confirmation for your records

This license is valid for the duration of your active subscription.

What Is Not Permitted

To protect the integrity of the catalog, the XS-4 license does not allow:

• Downloading or storing audio files
• Copying or redistributing music
• Use outside the registered business location
• Sub-licensing or resale
• Modification or remixing of audio

Streaming is provided exclusively through the XS-4 platform.

Why This Matters for Businesses

Traditional background music solutions often rely on:

• Multiple rights holders
• Complex licensing structures
• External repertoire dependencies

XS-4 offers a controlled alternative:

A single catalog.
A single rights holder.
A direct license agreement.

This provides clarity, predictability and peace of mind.

Transparency & Responsibility

XS-4 is committed to transparent communication.

If you have questions about licensing, rights coverage or proper usage, our team is available to provide clear guidance.

We believe professional background music should enhance your business — not introduce uncertainty.

Summary

• Directly licensed music
• Independently owned catalog
• No collecting society dependency on our repertoire
• Clear commercial usage rights
• Built for professional environments
